ABC/Giovanni Rufino(NEW YORK) – Actress Merrin Dungey plays a tough as nails former NYPD detective on ABC’s drama Conviction, but in real life, sitting down with ABC Radio on Wednesday, she was deeply concerned with the results of the election. Dungey shared her thoughts about moving on from Tuesday night’s upset loss for Hillary Clinton.
“You know, I think it’s important to…stand true to, you know, ‘love trumps hate,'” Dungey said, mirroring a popular slogan used during Clinton’s campaign, adding, “not to let that seep in.”
“You know…we may have a difference of opinion…with this new president-elect,” Dungey explained, “but [we must] not let the darkness overcome what we have to do as Americans, you know?”
Conviction, which also stars Hayley Atwell, has she and Dungey as part of a team investigating the criminal convictions of various people. The show airs Monday nights at 10 p.m. Eastern on ABC.
