Tracing Election Day's Tuesday Roots to America's Farmers

ABC News(NEW YORK) — While most states have early voting in place, the country’s official Election Day is always on a Tuesday.

The decision to set it on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November was based largely around farmers’ market schedules and crop schedules.

There was another, more lax time frame in place for some time before that, however.
