Sting to Perform at Bataclan, Reopening Venue a Year After Paris Attacks

PHILIPPE LOPEZ/AFP/Getty Images(PARIS) — A year after the Paris attacks, British musician Sting is set to reopen the Bataclan.

The former frontman for The Police will play the music venue on November 12, a day before the first anniversary of the attack that killed 90 concertgoers.

The Bataclan has been closed since the Eagles of Death Metal performed the night of the tragedy.

“In re-opening the Bataclan, we have two important tasks to reconcile. First, to remember and honour those who lost their lives in the attack a year ago, and second to celebrate the life and the music that this historic theatre represents,” Sting said in a statement on his website. “In doing so we hope to respect the memory as well as the life affirming spirit of those who fell. We shall not forget them.”

Sting said all proceeds would be donated to Life For Paris and 13 Novembre : Fraternité Verité.

Tickets will go on sale on November 8.
