US Stocks Close Lower on Election Jitters, Energy Decline

iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Investors remain cautious with just six days to go before the U.S. presidential election. A decline in energy also weighed down Wall Street.

The Dow dropped 77.46 (-0.43 percent) to finish at 17,959.64.

The Nasdaq lost 48.01 (-0.93 percent) to close at 5,105.57, while the S&P 500 finished at 2,097.94, down 13.78 (-0.65 percent) from its open.

Crude oil slid over 2 percent with prices hitting just over $46 a barrel.

The Federal Reserve announced Wednesday that they were keeping interest rates the unchanged, as expected.
