Mrs. Mary Ruth Astin Collins, age 92 of Centre, Alabama, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016. She was born on September 24, 1924 in Polk County. She was the daughter of the late Weyman and Mayme Barrett Astin.

Mrs. Collins is survived by her son, Tommy Collins; sisters, Fay Corley and Shirley Mitchell; brother, H.B. “Dickey” Astin and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Collins is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hubert Lamar Collins and brothers, W.N. Astin, Norman Douglas Astin, Dwight Stanley Astin and Charles Astin.

A graveside service for Mrs. Mary Ruth Astin Collins will be conducted on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at three o’clock at Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery with Mr. Larry Astin officiating.

The family of Mrs. Collins will receive family and friends on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from two o’clock in the afternoon until the graveside service hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Morris Collins, Wes Astin, Mike Astin, David Astin, Wayne Truett and Mark Parkinson.

The family has respectfully requested that flowers are to be omitted and donations can be made to the Humane Society, 2430 36th Street, Northport, AL 35473 or the Autism Foundation of Alabama, 4217 Dolly Ridge Drive, Birmingham, AL 35243.
