American Ninja Warrior & Cedar Bluff Resident JoJo Bynum Speaks To Cedar Bluff Students During Red Ribbon Weeks Program

jo-jo3In recognition of Red Ribbon Week, Cedar Bluff School hosted an assembly for students on campus on Monday afternoon.

The program consisted of a skit depicting an apocalyptic zombie outbreak throughout the town – in the skit the lone survivor being interviewed by a reporter told the story of how drug use at a party caused once normal students to transform into flesh eating zombies.

Members of the Cherokee County Narcotics Unit also participated in the program entering the room donning full tactical gear and apprehending the zombies.

Of course the overall message in this scenario is simple – Don’t Do Drugs.

The guest speaker for the program was Cedar Bluff High School Alumnus and American Ninja Warrior Star Jo-Jo Bynum.

Bynum spoke briefly about how making good decisions can affect your life starting at a very young age and how choosing to make adverse decisions can slow down success.

Bynum has made a name for himself by appearing on the popular NBC Show American Ninja Warrior and advancing to the Las Vegas Finals on multiple occasions.

Red Ribbon Week will continue through Friday – Mrs. Somer Nowak, Elementary Counselor, would like to thank WEIS and TV 24 for their media coverage, Tony Monroy and the Narcotics Unit with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, and JoJo Bynum for their willingness to participate in the program.

Nowak told WEIS Radio News “I feel like our Red Ribbon Rally at Cedar Bluff was a total success thanks to a wonderful community of volunteers willing to help get the message out about the dangers of drugs”.
