Sand Rock School was placed on lockdown for a short time Wednesday morning simply as a precautionary measure.
Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver informed WEIS Radio News that deputies responded to a report of a domestic dispute on County Road 48, at around 7:30am – approximately a mile from school grounds and as a result law enforcement officials advised the administration to put the lockdown in place.
35 year old Cedar Bluff resident Donald Voyles Jr. was taken into custody at the scene of the disturbance, and charged with Domestic Violence 3rd Degree, Terroristic Threats, Unlawful Imprisonment 1st Degree and Resisting Arrest.
He was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center, where he remains awaiting a bond hearing.
Lockdown at the school was lifted at around 7:50am, approximately 20 minutes after being put into place.
