Mr. Marvin Nathan “Buddy” Mackey, Sr., age73, of Centre, passed away Saturday October 1st at Noland Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Monday October 3rd at Perry Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Eddie Nation, Rev. Bo Mackey, Rev. Melvyn Salter and Rev. Lynn Hughston officiating, burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until 2 P.M. Monday.
Pallbearers include Butch Hanley, Keith Mackey, Kevin Mackey, Jamie Mackey, Eric Mackey (Nephew), Damon Mackey, Eric Mackey(Grandson), and Todd Hawkins.
Honorary Pallbearers: Lee Anthony, Tommy Lombino, Shane Swafford, Kevin Stargell, Bryan Jaynes, Austin Cassell
Survivors include his wife Katie Mae Butler Mackey; son Bo (Rosemary) Mackey of Liberty, SC.; daughter Suzanne (Lee) Anthony of Gaylesville; brothers Kenneth Mackey of Leesburg, David Mackey of Leesburg; sister Gayle Forehand of Orlando, FL.; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; special friends Arnold Robertson, Bobby Flynt, Paul Matthews, and Freddy Reynolds.
Mr. Mackey was a native of Cherokee County and the son of the late Guy and Laura Fowler Mackey and a member of Centre First Baptist Church. He was retired from TVA as a Pipefitter.
