Mr. Harold Dean Mitchell, Sr. age 81, of Ft. Payne passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016. Funeral services are set for 1pm Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from the High Point Church of God (3385 Co Rd 114, Valley Head, AL 35989) with Bros. Larry Haynes, Dennis Bunch, Donny Cobble, grandson, Ryan Johnson, and step-son Stanley Swafford officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. The family receive friends from 1 until 9pm Tuesday and from 9am until service time on Wednesday at the church.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn Parham Mitchell; children, Marsha (Jeff) Thompson, Hillevi (David) Hammonds, Lisa (Wade) Johnson, and Dean (Leslie) Mitchell; step-sons, Stanley Swafford and Trent Swafford; step-daughter-in-law, Nell Ray Swafford; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; Siblings, W.B. (Jessie Faye) Mitchell, Jr., Kathryn (Bill) Patton, Mona Faye (Paul) Johnian, Sharon (Charles) Wooten, Curtis (Patricia) Mitchell, Beverly Dendy, and Olivia “Lib” Mitchell; a host of nieces and nephews, special pets, beloved dog Smokey and cat Diesel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wyatt and Lena Mitchell; sister, Rose Mitchell; and step-son Clay Swafford.
