Firefighters with the Centre, Cedar Bluff and Leesburg fire departments were dispatched to the Centre location of Walmart at around 9:30 Tuesday morning, in response to reports of a possible fire in the deli.
Those responding to the scene encountered a “scorched” smell at the front of the store, and it was quickly determined that there had been a short in one of the store’s plug-in’s, located inside the deli area.
Cherokee EMS also responded to the location as a precautionary measure.
