Mrs. Martha Ann Gowens Matthews, age 75, of Centre passed away Tuesday September 13, 2016.

Mrs. Matthews was born September 28, 1940 in Cherokee County, Alabama a daughter of the Estelle Gowens, and Pearl Matthews Gowens. She was of the Baptist Faith, and a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by brothers, Joe, Hal, David, Denson, and Ed Gowens, sisters, Mary Frances Morris, Carrie Jennings, and Sarah Lindsey.

Survivors include her husband, Harlan Matthews, sons, Time (Wendy) Matthews, Centre, Phil Matthews, Centre, Kelley (Sharon) Matthews, Centre, a sister, Bonnie (Sonny) Gossett, Centre, and two grandchildren, Justin, Olivia, and Hagan Matthews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. (Ga. Time) Thursday September 15, 2016 at Old Nazareth Baptist Church, with Rev. Josh Bryant, officiating. Interment will follow in Old Nazareth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. (Ga. Time) Thursday at Old Nazareth Baptist Church.
