Two Gadsden men allegedly posing as police officers now find themselves behind bars after being spotted by the real deal; Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit Agents were recently in the Mill Village area of Gadsden in response to reports of drug activity occurring there.

Several teenagers approached agents at the intersection of North 24th Street and Lakefront Avenue to report that two individuals had accused them of stealing a bicycle, and one of the men had attempted to place one of the teens in cuffs; they also said that the older of the two had been armed with a gun.

The pair had been traveling in different vehicles – a black Nissan Altima – and a green Chevy Tahoe.

Officers pulled over the Tahoe, driven by 37 year old Jerry Marcus Kilgro – and discovered a pair of handcuffs and blue strobe lights; they also had a badge reading “Security Officer”.

A .38 revolver was also found in the vehicle.

Officers say they believe the two men were merely trying to scare the teenagers, however it led to the arrest of Jerry Kilgro, and his father, 60 year old Jerome Everett Kilgro on charges of Impersonating a Peace Officer.  The father was also charged with Menacing.

Its unclear how long the two men had been involved in this type of activity.
