According to information in a news release from Cherokee County Coroner Jeremy Deaton – the body of a Cedar Bluff man was discovered just before noon Thursday, by a United States Postal Worker attempting to deliver a package to the residence.
The body of Leslie Earl Kemp, age 61, of a County Road 136 address – was found in his front yard; the postal worker immediately called 9-1-1.
Kemp, who lived alone, was last spoken to last Sunday night (August 21st) by a relative.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by Chief Deputy Coroner Paul McDonald.
The JSU Center for Applied Sciences and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation. According to Dr. Deaton, it appears that Kemp had passed away from natural causes sometime earlier in the week and no foul play is suspected at this time.
The body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
