What is the world coming to?
It appears thieves are now willing to put some time and effort into stealing things.
Case in point: someone recently jacked up a backhoe, stripped it and left it on blocks where it had been parked on County Road 39 in Piedmont.
A number of things were taken last Friday (August 12th) from the large piece of equipment, including the tires and rims; two 16-foot aluminum walk boards; a 24-foot aluminum walk board; Pro-3 aluminum brakes; two eight-foot fiberglass ladders and two six foot fiberglass ladders and several drop cords.
The backhoe belongs to McGatha Construction – and a $500 reward is now being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case.
The actual location where the theft occurred was at 1920 County Road 39 in Piedmont near the Mt. Weisner Fire Department.
