A Rome man has been arrested in connection with a Burglary in the Farrell Community just north of Cedar Bluff on Wednesday.
According to Chief Investigator Josh Summerford, the homeowner called 9-1-1 to report someone had just broken into their residence, and the suspect had fled when confronted.
Dispatchers quickly broadcast a description of the suspect’s vehicle to nearby officers. While enroute to the scene, Lt. Bo Jolly met a vehicle matching the description.
Investigator Summerford and Investigator Jeremy Stepps stopped the truck on the causeway in Cedar Bluff with the assistance of Deputy Brian Gilliland.
The victim identified the driver as the burglar and 45 year old Daniel Leon Welchel of Rome, Georgia was arrested and charged with second degree burglary.
Sheriff Jeff Shaver commended the officers on their quick response and apprehension of the suspect.
