New Park Development In The Works In Cedar Bluff

The Town of Cedar Bluff is in the planning stages of developing a new water front park on Weiss Lake.

Currently the town is in the process of applying for a grant with the ARC (Appalachian Regional Commission) to help fund the development of what will officially be Cedar Beach Park and will be located off of Reese Street on the east side of town on the banks of the lake.

The  overall goal for the park is to feature a public parking area, a public beach area with sand for swimming, eight picnic tables with barbeque grills at each site, restrooms, public fishing piers, boat docks, a community shelter and a paved walking track.

This will be a long term project for the town with assistance coming from Alabama Power Shoreline Management and the Northeast Alabama Regional Planning Commission.

In other business, the council received the quarterly from Police Chief Steve Walden and also adopted Resolutions of No Opposition in the upcoming Municipal Election for Mayor Tammy Crane and Council Members Jerry Sprayberry, Donald Sanders, Norman Burton and Leatha Harp who are all running unopposed.

The council also adopted a Resolution officially appointing the Election Officers for the upcoming election on August 23rd.
