A northwest Georgia resident was arrested on a drug trafficking charge in Cherokee County overnight.
40 year old Richard Scott Thompson of Rome, was booked into the detention center shortly before 2:00am Wednesday and charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
He remains behind bars awaiting setting of bond.
