Governor Robert Bentley has now announced a date for a Special Session of the Legislature, to consider a lottery proposal – and that date is August 15th.
The Governor recently released a statement indicating he would call the session, in order to propose a lottery, the proceeds of which would help pay for state services:
The Legislature will have to move along, if it wants the issue on the ballot for the November 8th General Election. They’ll be required to approve a proposed constitutional amendment no later than August 24th.
We’ll continue to follow this story as it develops.
