Additional Information Released on Weekend Arrest of Cedar Bluff Resident

Danny Joe EldersCherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver has now released additional information regarding the weekend arrest of 53 year old Cedar Bluff resident Danny Joe Elders, on multiple charges. 

Sunday, Corporal Nick Vaughn responded to Elders residence, in response to a call that said he was damaging another person’s vehicle.  When Elders saw Vaughn arrive, he reportedly ran and picked up what appeared to be a rifle.  Vaughn ordered him to drop the weapon but he refused and ran inside the home.

While awaiting backup, Vaughn saw Elders attempt to exit a side door and quickly took him into custody.

He was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center shortly after 5:00pm and was booked in on charges of Menacing, Resisting Arrest, with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and with Fleeing/Attempting to Elude in addition to Promoting Prison Contraband 2nd Degree.

Sheriff Shaver stated that he greatly appreciates other deputies, investigators, Centre Police Officers, and Cedar Bluff Police Officers for responding to assist.
