Vigil

A large crowd turned out Monday evening to show their support for the men and women in uniform who serve the community around the clock under every conceivable condition and in every circumstance.

Among those in attendance was Cherokee County Commission Chairman Kirk Day:

Centre Mayor Tony Wilkie also spoke to the crowd, issuing a heartfelt thank you to all those that took part in organizing Monday’s event; the group known as Wives of the Centre Police Department was headed up by Paige Blankenship, wife of Police Chief Kirk Blankenship:

The final speaker was Corporal Brent Grimes with the Centre Police Department who called out for understanding – adding that the solution to the troubles currently being seen across the nation can only come from a higher power:

And in closing Corporal Grimes read what is known as the “Policeman’s Prayer”.
