According to a statement released by the Ft Payne Police Department, on Monday (July 4th) a motorist came upon the scene of a single-vehicle crash which claimed the life of a 21 year old Ft Payne man.

Timothy Ledon Smith, was discovered lying in a grassy area just off the side of the roadway, after apparently losing control of his motorcycle in the Pack Road area of Sylvania Gap.

According to that report, there was no evidence present that suggested that another vehicle had been involved.  It was later determined that Smith was last seen leaving a Ft Payne area restaurant during the early morning hours of Saturday (July 2nd).

The investigation into the accident is on-going.
