A 20 year old Rome resident was arrested this week, after apparently accidentally shooting, and killing, another 20 year old with a 9mm pistol earlier in the month.

According to reports – Cody Throneberry was taken into custody Wednesday in connection with the death of Owen Hicks on June 2nd.

It appears the pair were playing with that 9mm in the bedroom of Throneberry’s  residence on Bell’s Ferry Road shortly after 5:00 that afternoon, when it went off, striking Hicks in the face – leaving him in critical condition and on life-support; he died three days later.

Investigators state they don’t believe that any foul play was involved, and that the shooting was strictly accidental.

Throneberry has been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter, with misdemeanor Pointing a Gun at Another and with Reckless Conduct.
