Presenter:  Dr. George Cobb, D.D.

Program :  “Cherokee County Connections with the Revolutionary War”.

Dr. Cobb says, “the topic will address persons and places in our county whitch have unusual and historic connections with a War which was fought before Alabama attained statehood.”

Come and kick off the July 4th celebration with the Historical Preservation Society, as Dr. George Cobb shares the connection that Cherokee County has with the Revolutionary War.

Dr. Cobb is a retiered United Methodist Minister whose hobby is living history.  He & his wife Betty are members of the Over Mountain Victory Trail Association, and are active participants in the annual re-enactment of the March to King’s Mountain. Dr. Cobb portrays several 18th century clergy as well as other historical characters.  He was recently elected as chairperson of the Commission on Archives & History in the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church.  In their retirement they also served the Ebenezer & Hebron UMCs in Cherokee County, AL.  Dr. Cobb serves as chaplain of the Historical Preservation Society of Cherokee County.  He and Betty live in Cedar Bluff.
