Mr. Billy John Dake

Mr. Billy John Dake, age 77 of Cedar Bluff passed away Sunday June 12, 2016 in a Rome  hospital.

Mr. Dake was born January 27, 1939, in Cherokee County Alabama a son of the late Henry Lee Dake, and Maudene Gilmore Dake. He was a Deacon of Severant  Heart Baptist Church. Mr. Dake was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps,  and retired from Evans Construction Company. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Dake, brothers, Emmett Dake, Warren Dake, sister, Sara Pruitt.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty Maxwell Dake, son Greg Dake, Cedar Bluff; daughter, Sherry (Ricky) Mize, Cedar Bluff; brothers, Clark Dake, Rome; Charles Dake, Rome; sister, Margie (Lynn) Rogers, Blanche; 7 grandchildren, Kim Steele, LeAnne Browning,  Garron Mize, Kaycee Mize, Stephanie Sawyer, John Dake, and Sammie Jo Dake, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. (Ga. Time) Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jamie Maples, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. (Ga.Time) Tuesday June 14, 2016 at Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.

Pallbearers include, Chad Browning, Robert Steele, Garron Mize, John Dake, Randy Mize, and Jimmy Mize.

Honorary pallbearers inlcude, Eddie Terry, Bobby Maxwell, and Billy Maxwell.

Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
