Gadsden State Tennis Team Wins Second in Regional Play

The Gadsden State Community College tennis team won second place in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region XXII Championships April 15-16 at the Jimmy Johns Tennis Center in Point Mallard Park.

Marion Military Institute finished first with 13 points. The Gadsden State Cardinals won second place with 10 points while Faulkner State Community College won third with four points.

The Cardinals captured singles championships at #2, #4 and #6 singles and a doubles championship at #2 doubles. The cardinals lost in the finals of #3 singles and #3 doubles. The team is coached by Buster Stewart.

Earning All-Conference honors for the Gadsden State tennis team are Kevin Triplett for #2 singles and #2 doubles; Jacob McAllister at #2, doubles; Chris Millsap at #6 singles; and Paul Taylor at #4 singles.
