Traffic Stop Leads to Meth Charges for Driver

Derrick 1A traffic stop turned out to be bad news for a Southside man recently.

36 year old Derrick Lamar McCormick was pulled over on Alabama Highway 77, and during the stop appeared to be extremely nervous and was noticeably shaking according to report information.

And there was good cause for it.

During the sweep conducted by the Drug Enforcement K-9 Unit, officers located two bags of methamphetamine in McCormick’s pants pocket; he was arrested on the charge of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and later released on $1,500 bond.
