A Valley Head man died in a house fire near the Alabama/Georgia line on Saturday.

According to DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris, Deputies responded at approximately 4:10 a.m. to a call of a house fire on County Road 239 outside Valley Head on the Alabama Georgia line.

The call came into the Dade County Georgia E911 Center and Dade County Fire, South Dade Fire and Dade County Sheriff’s Deputies were the first to arrive on the scene.

Fire units from Trenton, Valley Head, and Mentone fire departments were also responded to assist in fire suppression.

Investigators from DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshall Office were called in and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

The body believing to be 38 year old Travis Nathaniel Clark of Valley Head was found inside the residence the body was transported by DeKalb County Coroner’s office to Department of Forensic Science in Huntsville for an autopsy.
