An Etowah County man was fatally injured in a single-vehicle accident, occurring on I-59 on Sunday afternoon.
Stephen Barron, age 38, was reportedly driving a Toyota Tacoma pickup northbound, when the vehicle veered off the roadway to the right with Barron then overcorrecting which sent him into the median close to the Attalla/Rainbow City exit.
According to the accident report, the pickup traveled about 200 feet into the median before it flipped several times, ejecting the driver.
Barron was pronounced dead at the scene by Etowah County Coroner Michael Head.
The report noted that Barron appeared to be traveling at the speed limit, when the accident occurred at around 5:30pm.
