One person was injured following a kitchen fire at a residence on Alabama Highway 68 East on Wednesday evening.
Gaylesville, Cedar Bluff and Broomtown Fire Departments responded shortly after 5:00, Gaylesville Firefighters were the first to arrive on the scene and quickly requested Cherokee EMS Paramedics after they discovered a victim suffering from severe burns and smoke inhalation, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department Deputies were also called to the scene.
The victim was evaluated and stabilized at the scene and then airlifted to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
