Water levels remain high in Cherokee County along the Coosa River, but the danger seems to have subsided downstream.
A flood warning for Gadsden along the Coosa was cancelled today. The Gadsden/Etowah County Emergency Management Agency said river stages are falling near Gadsden and water levels are forecast to remain below established flood stages.
In Cherokee County, the measuring site at Weiss Dam continues to be above flood level at 568ft.01 inch, as of 6:00 this morning. Flood stage is 567 feet .
The river level is expected to continue to fall to below flood stage by Tuesday evening.
