During Tuesday’s meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Education – Superintendent of Education Mitchell Guice addressed some recent comments made during an open meeting of the Cherokee County Commission in regards to the renewal of the One Cent Sales Tax –

In other business, the Board heard AdvancEd Self Assessments from Administrators at Centre Middle, Spring Garden, Centre Elementary and Cedar Bluff Schools, received the bank reconciliation, cash balance and financial reports for November and also approved the bills for payment.
Recognition was also given by Cedar Bluff High School Dewayne Pierce and the board to the Cedar Bluff Football for their recent accomplishments in the AHSAA High School Football Playoffs, the team finished the season as the Class 1A Runner Up.
In personnel action, the board accepted the resignation of Vickie Reeves as Vocational Bus Driver for Sand Rock effective January 1st, however she will continue on and retain her regular route.
Classified Placements included, Dale Williams, bus drive for Cedar Bluff School, effective January 1st and Len Hogan, bus driver for Centre Schools effective January 1st.
Classified Transfers by Agreement included, Anita Nation, JAG Specialist to School Secretary at Cherokee County Career & Tech Center.
Leave Absences were approved for Anna Adams and Mary Ellis in addition to a Homebound Services Contract with Audra Broome.
The Board also approved the complete list of 2015/2016 Supplements.
The next regular meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Education meeting is set for January 5th at 5:00 p.m. at the Central Board Office in Centre, a Ground Breaking Ceremony for the new gym at Gaylesville School is set for Friday, December 18th at 10:00 a.m., the public is invited to attend.
