A jury has recommended the death penalty for Kevin Andre Towles who was accused of the murder of five year old Geontae Glass back in 2006.

This is the second time an Etowah County jury has found Towles guilty of Capital Murder in the case.

Prosecutors say that Towles’ and the boy’s mother, Shalinda Glass, staged both a carjacking and a kidnapping, to cover up the child’s death; Towles’ had been sentenced to death after a 2009 conviction; however, the Alabama Supreme Court threw out that decision based upon what they termed “improper testimony,” and granted Towles’ a new trial.

He was found guilty again with the jury voting unanimously Friday for the death penalty. A judge is scheduled to decide his fate on March 9th next year (2016).

Glass 1Shalinda Glass told authorities that Geontae had been asleep in the back seat of her vehicle, when the car was stolen in Albertville; the child was later found dead in the trunk of the car at a home owned by Towles’.

Shalinda Glass later pled guilty and is currently serving time in prison.
