Information has been released regarding a hit and run occurring on Wednesday, November 25th in the Ringgold community of Cherokee County.
According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, an 18 year old female was walking along County Road 41 at around midnight, when she was struck by a vehicle.
Deputies Tyler Perea and John Sentell along with Chief Investigator Josh Summerford, were on the scene in just moments, and discovered that the driver had fled the area.
Cherokee EMS and the Broomtown Fire Department responded and treated the victim until she was air-lifted to a Chattanooga area hospital; she is expected to make a full recovery.
That driver, identified as 30 year old Rondal LaWayne Ragan of Gaylesville, returned to the scene while emergency personnel were still there.
According to eyewitnesses, Ragan was traveling at an extremely high rate of speed, and was also suspected of being under the influence of alcohol.
He was taken into custody and charged with Assault 1st Degree and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
He remains in the Cherokee County Detention Center with bond set at $17,500.
