One person was injured in a single vehicle accident on the Chestnut Bypass on Tuesday afternoon – emergency crews were dispatched to the scene just before 4:30 to the Bypass Express Mart.
The driver of the Kia left the roadway near Happy China, struck a stop sign completely dislodging it from the ground, snapped a guide wire and missed hitting a power pole head on by inches before coming to rest in the parking lot of the gas station.
The driver, who has not been identified at this time, was taken to Cherokee Medical Centre by Cherokee EMS for treatment of injuries.
Centre Police, Centre Firefighters, Cherokee EMS, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department and the Cherokee County Rescue Squad responded to the scene.
