Five Arrested on Drug Charges / UPDATED

FiveAccording to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Investigators with the Criminal Investigation and Counter-Drug Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in Cedar Bluff on Monday, concluding a drug investigation that had stretched over a period of six months.

Jeremy Lee Crane, age 32 of Cedar Bluff along with Travis James Barnes, age 24, and Robert Dewayne Abernathy, age 35, both of Piedmont, were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Crane was additionally charged with unlawful distribution of methamphetamine and illegal possession of firearms.

All three are currently being housed at the Cherokee County Detention Center where they await a bond hearing.

– two other individuals were arrested on drug charges in Cherokee County, during the early morning hours of Tuesday.

41 year old Jodi Lynn Bishop charged with the Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; and William Allison Wood, age 60, charged with the Unlawful Possession of Marijuana Second Degree, and with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Crane was booked into the detention center just before 2:30am with Abernathy and Barnes being booked in at around 3:00am; Wood was booked in around 3:30; and Bishop just prior to 4:00am.
