An investigation has been launched into the death of a DeKalb County woman.
Ft Payne Police Chief Randy Bynum said that someone contacted his department during the early morning hours of Monday (September 21st) to report an unresponsive female lying in the roadway at 106 10th Street Southwest.
Officers and emergency medical services quickly arrived to find Angela Kay Mitchell, age 54, in the roadway; she was later pronounced dead by the coroner. Her body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science where an autopsy will be performed as part of the investigation.
No additional information is being released at this time.
