A weekend traffic stop turned into a significant drug bust in Heflin.
A police officer pulled over a driver for a traffic violation and during the stop he detected an odor of marijuana; the driver reportedly admitted to having smoked marijuana he then also admitted to having a half-ounce of “ice” in the trunk, along with a set of scales.
Officers also reportedly found a gun during their search of the vehicle.
The driver, whose name has yet to be released was taken into custody and charged with the Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and having a concealed firearm.
The driver also had an outstanding warrant on a cocaine charge in Mississippi.
