A former Floyd County law enforcement officer was killed in Afghanistan over the weekend
Barry Sutton who had previously worked for both the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office & Police Department, was one of the 12 people fatally injured, when a suicide car bomber attacked a NATO convoy on Saturday.
Sutton was a civilian contractor helping train police officers, and was in Afghanistan as part of NATO’s Resolute Support Mission.
He served with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office from 2009 – 2011, and he was also a SWAT Team member and Patrol Sergeant with the Floyd County Police Department.
