Rome Man Killed in Weekend Motorcycle Crash

A Rome resident has died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident which took place just before 7:00 Saturday morning.

According to police reports, 31 year old Christopher Dean Cowart of Old Summerville Road was traveling south on Highway 27, at the exit ramp for Cedar Avenue, when he lost control of the bike.

The report states Cowart was driving the motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he hit the guard rail. He was in critical condition and was rushed by EMS to Floyd Medical Center.

He was pronounced dead at 1:13 that afternoon by Floyd County Coroner Ernie Studdard

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
