The Summerville News reports that the City of Summerville could be facing up to $200,000 in fines and penalties due to of a number of errors in reporting withholding taxes for City of Summerville employees.
City Manager Russell Thompson has told the council the clerical error hasn’t been caught in the last fourteen years.
The City is planning to negotiate with the Georgia Department of Revenue to see if they will accept a lower settlement.
