Cody Adams Sworn In As Newest Leesburg Town Councilman

AdamsSwearingInLeesburg’s newest Councilmember was sworn in during the regular Town Council meeting on Monday.

Leesburg resident Cody Adams was administered the Oath of Office by Cherokee County District Court Judge Wes Mobley, Adams wife Anna Brett, his mother Debra and his two children were in attendance for the ceremony.

Adams fills the unexpired term recently vacated by Brandon Betterton who resigned due to his family moving out of Leesburg.

In other business during the meeting, Mayor Ed Mackey said that plans were underway for this year’s Leesburg Day Celebration, this year’s event will take place at the Leesburg Landing – more details will be forthcoming as the event draws near.

Mayor Mackey also said that town officials will be meeting with the bonding company of the sewer project as well as LADD Environmental to receive an update on the progress of the project.

Leesburg Police Chief Lanny Ransum presented his departments report for the quarter – there were 63 Incident/Offense Reports taken, 29 Felony Arrests made, 49 Misdemeanor Arrests, 32 Written Tickets, 34 Written Warnings, 13 Traffic Accidents which included 2 Fatalities and 3 DUI Arrests.

The Council also approved the purchase of four 15 foot sections of bleachers for the Leesburg Landing.
