No more runs for the border as fireworks will be legal in Georgia for the first time this July 4th.
A new state law takes effect Wednesday that makes the sale of all types of fireworks legal, and there doesn’t appear to be a shortage of vendors signing up to sell them.
The Georgia Insurances and Fire Safety Commissioner’s office has received a total of 424 applications, 313 had been approved as of Monday afternoon.
Most of the licenses in our area are for the big box stores like Walmart and Kroger, according to Laura Wright in the communications office.
Rome Fire Chief Troy Brock is urging everyone to be safe when using fireworks. Brock said he doesn’t anticipate any widespread problems.
