The woman who managed to get out of a patrol car and flee while still wearing handcuffs is now back in custody.
34 year old Courtney Dawn Steele was arrested on Sunday, along with 47 year old Anthony Earl Renfroe at a residence on County Road 696 in DeKalb County. Sheriff’s Office Deputies and drug agents searched the home and found 80 grams of pure crystal methamphetamine with a value of around $8,000; in addition to a large set of postal scales, several glass pipes and a number of syringes, along with three loaded pistols.
Renfroe was charged with drug trafficking; Steele was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, theft third degree and also escape third degree after being recaptured.
She was seen walking into the woods on County Road 44 in Cherokee County and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were notified by a concerned citizen.
Local deputies took Steel into custody and later turned her over to DeKalb County Deputies and Drug Task Force Agents.
She was booked into the DeKalb County Detention Center shortly after 6:30pm on Tuesday
