Mrs. Doris Elizabeth Silvers Newman, age 85, of Gaylesville, Alabama passed away Saturday June 6, 2015, in Cherokee Medical in Centre.

Mrs. Newman was born June 15, 1929, in Murray County, a daughter of the late C. E. Silvers, and Beatrice Holder Silvers. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and was retired from Old Dominion Box Company after 45 years of service. Mrs. Newman was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Newman, and 3 brothers.

Survivors include a son Gerald Tucker, Gaylesville; Teresa Tucker, Gaylesville; grandchildren, Elizabeth Lee, Rachael Lee, Jacob Lee, Kristine Walker, Adrenne Young, Allison Tucker, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday June 13, 2015 at Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bobby Stephens, officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery. the family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of the service on Saturday, Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.

Pallbearers include the following gentlemen and are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Michael Walker, Pete Carbtree, Joel Lee, Jessi Nicholson, Eric Brightenstine, and Jacob Lee.
