After spending almost two years on the run an inmate who escaped from Calhoun County is finally back in custody.
28 year old Derrick Russell Poore – was captured on Thursday by the U.S. Marshals’ Florida Regional Task Force near Pensacola.
Acting on a tip that he may be in the area, law enforcement stepped up patrols and he was spotted leaving restaurant with a group of other people; they followed as he got into his car and made the stop at the Bob Sikes Toll Bridge.
He reportedly attempted to throw the car in reverse but was boxed in; at that point he gave up without incident.
Poore had been placed on Community Control back in September of 2013 due to burglaries – he fled the area after cutting off his monitoring bracelet.
He is currently being held in the Escambia County Jail awaiting extradition.
