Etowah County authorities arrested 30 year old Thomas Aaron Craig late last week and he was charged with one count of the sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12, one count of possession of child pornography and one count of production of pornography with minors – all felonies.

According to investigator Seth Williamson, Craig had allegedly abused a nine year old female over a period of two years and the case against the suspect came about as a result of the victim seeing a presentation at her school.

During that presentation, school children were told what to do if they had been physically or sexually battered. Afterwards, she came forward and told the teacher that she had been sexually abused.

The teacher then notified a Sheriff’s Office Investigator, and Etowah County DHR, regarding the situation.

Investigators received Craig’s consent to conduct a “forensic evaluation” on his cell phone – where approximately 35 pornographic photos were discovered.

He is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $150,000 cash bond.
