Weekend Shooting Claims Life of 22 Year Old Rome Man

A 22 year old man is dead and another is being sought after a shooting in downtown Rome during the early morning hours of Sunday.

The incident reportedly took place at a downtown nightclub and an Atlanta man was listed as being a suspect in the case.

According to that report, police officers responded to the Peach Palace at 425 Broad Street around 1:30am in connection with a report that someone had been hit with pepper spray – when law enforcement arrived on the scene they heard several gunshots then noticed that a black Ford Mustang was leaving the area at a high rate of speed – with bystanders yelling “that’s them.”

Travious Floyd of Rome was found shot at the intersection of Tribune Street & 5th Avenue; he was pronounced dead at Floyd Medical Center at 2:01am.

A number of subjects were taken to police headquarters for questioning – however, Floyd County Jail reports do not indicate that any arrests were made.
