Reported “Fish Kill” Turns Out to be Natural Occurrence

Weiss Lake 1WEIS Radio News recently received a number of calls regarding what appeared to be a case of a possible “fish kill” on Weiss Lake; we immediately contacted Carolyn Landrem with the Weiss Lake Improvement Association, and she informed us she would be speaking with the Department of Conservation regarding the incident.

Fortunately, as it turns out, it was nothing to be alarmed about:

Landrem explains further:

That number once again is (256) 831-6860.

Remember, Weiss Lake plays a vital role in regard to the overall quality of life in Cherokee County, with an economic impact of some $19 million dollars a year; attracting anglers, and those who simply love the great outdoors, to this area from across the country.

Keeping Weiss Lake clean is the responsibility of everyone and by taking time to report any possible problems to the proper organization, you’re doing your part.
