In 2010, we implemented the Yellow Dot program in Cherokee County, which is designed to provide emergency responders with valuable contact and medical information in the event of an auto accident.
I would like to share a story of this programs success. My good friends, Larry and Joan Beck, were involved in a near head-on collision in April of this year on Alabama Highway 68 near Leesburg. Both sustained serious injury.
The first responders spotted the Yellow Dot on the rear window of their vehicle and immediately retrieved their information packets from the glove compartment. The Beck’s were transported separately to an area hospital . However, with the important medical and contact information in the hands of emergency medical personnel, they were cared for properly.
The Beck’s stated, “We were so glad we had the Yellow Dot, and we encourage everyone to participate in this program.” I would like to thank the Beck’s for sharing their story and encourage everyone to schedule a program for groups or clubs or sign-up at my office.
