Rome Convenience Store Closed Under the RICO Act

RICO 100A Martha Berry Boulevard convenience store remains closed following the appointment of a Temporary Receiver.

Last Thursday, authorities began seizing property at Victor Food & Grocery located at 1324 Martha Berry Boulevard in Rome.

According to a Notice of Seizure, filed in accordance with Georgia’s Racketeering Influenced & Corrupt Organizations act customers were charged to play electronic gaming machines for an opportunity to win cash prizes.

In lieu of lease payments the owner of the store would share money with the owners of the gaming machines; that, according to court documents.

The alleged incidents began no later than December of last year (2014).

The owner, 41 year old Parmjit Singh Dhrim, was arrested and charged with gambling with possession of a gambling device or equipment, commercial gambling and also with keeping a gambling place.

23-year old Jasbir Kumar was charged with commercial gambling.
